Mike Skinner and the No. 27 Bill Davis Racing team lined up in the fifth spot for Sunday’s UAW-Dodge 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Skinner remained within sight of the leaders for the first 50 laps of the event, but a pit road speeding penalty and handling issues relegated the team to a 30th-place finish.

Bill Davis Racing (BDR) announced today that it will tap into its pool of veteran Cup Series drivers to pilot the No. 27 Toyota Camry during the next several NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. Truck Series standouts Mike Skinner and Johnny Benson are both expected to step behind the wheel of BDR’s No. 27 entry.

“Wow, that was hugely disappointing. My team gave me a great car, and we were capable of so much better.
