Scott Speed's Bristol Preview
Location: Bristol Motor Speedway
Date: Wednesday, August 20, 2008
NOTES:
- This week’s race truck for Bristol Motor Speedway is Chassis No. 22-102. Chassis No. 22-102 was last raced at Michigan International Speedway, where Scott Speed posted a third place finish.
- Welcome Back… Scott Speed will rejoin the No.22 Bill Davis Racing Toyota Tundra team this week at Bristol Motor Speedway. Speed’s last race behind the wheel of the No. 22 Red Bull Toyota Tundra was in June at Texas Motor Speedway.
- First Timer… Wednesday’s O’Reilly 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway will not only mark Speed’s first time racing on the track, but it will also be his first time seeing the half-mile track.
- Need a Red Bull? Red Bull, the leader in energy drinks, will serve as the primary sponsor of the No. 22 Bill Davis Racing entry Wednesday night under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway.
- Staying Busy… Speed has two jobs. Not only does he pilot the No. 22 Toyota Tundra in the Craftsman Truck Series, but he also has a full time ride in the ARCA RE/MAX Series behind the wheel of the No. 2 Red Bull Toyota Camry. Speed has been on a tear this season, winning four races and leading the ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship standings.
- Tested and Approved… Speed has tested numerous times over the last few weeks in his Eddie Sharp ARCA RE/MAX Series Toyota, as well as in Red Bull’s Car of Tomorrow Toyota Camry. Speed will also participate in NCTS test with Bill Davis Racing at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway Monday following the Bristol race.
- Race Ready… Speed will compete in the ARCA RE/MAX Series event Sunday, Aug. 17, in Springfield, Ill., before driving to Chicago for an ARCA test. Speed will then fly straight to Bristol. The dedicated driver should land sometime late Tuesday night before making his Craftsman Truck Series return Wednesday at Bristol.
- Listen and Watch… The O’Reilly 200 is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. ET, Wednesday, Aug. 20. It will broadcast on SPEED (TV), MRN (radio) and Sirius Satellite Radio (Ch. 128).
Scott Speed on racing at Bristol Motor Speedway:
“First of all, I am glad to be back racing with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck guys. The guys in this series are awesome. They are balls to the walls from the word go, and I love it.
“As far as Bristol goes, well, it should be pretty interesting. I have never seen the track, so it should be a lot of fun. I have gotten a few pointers here and there from different drivers, and hopefully their advice will help. I’m running with a great team and a great group of guys, so we should be pretty good here.”
