Race: Prairie Meadows 250
Location: Iowa Speedway
Date: April 19th, 2008

  • This Week’s Racecar for Iowa Speedway is Chassis 28-107.  This chassis has not yet ran in an ARCA RE/MAX Series race, but it did run in a few NASCAR Sprint (then Nextel) Cup races last year.
  • Hometown Track… Annett was born and raised in Des Moines, IA.  The 21-year old driver not only grew up near the .875 mile track, but he has very fond memories of his favorite track as well.  He captured his first ARCA RE/MAX Series pole at Iowa in 2007 at his first ever ARCA race.
  • Lube it Up… Northland Motor Oils-Lubricants will be the primary sponsor this weekend on Annett’s No. 28 Toyota Camry.  Northland is based out of Waterloo, IA and has been a supporter of Annett for the last three years.
  • Making History… Annett was the first driver in the 55-year ARCA RE/MAX Series history to take the Toyota nameplate to victory lane, which he did at Talladega in 2007.  He qualified second and led all but 19 laps en route to that victory.  Annett also won again at the 2008 ARCA 200 in Daytona earlier this year, which was the last time he was in an ARCA race.
  • Proving His Worth… Though Annett’s career ARCA Series stats boast only five starts, they are impressive:  two victories, one pole, three top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes.
  • The Puck Stops Here… At the age of 16, Annett signed a contract to play professional hockey for Team Illinois, a tier one AAA team.  In 2004, Annett was voted the most improved player in the U.S. Hockey League.
  • Autographs Anyone… Annett will be signing autographs at the Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino on Friday, April 18th from 6-8pm.
  • Listen and Watch … The Prairie Meadows 250 is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. CST on Saturday, April 19.  It will broadcast live on the Speed Channel.

Michael Annett on racing at Iowa Speedway:

“I am so excited about this weekend.  This is not only my favorite track, but it is my hometown track.  I have a ton of family and friends that always come out to watch me here, so I hope I can bring home the win on Saturday.  The last two races I have raced in the ARCA Series I have won, so I hope to keep that streak going here in Iowa.  I have always run pretty well here in the past; including when I got my first pole here in 2007, so hopefully we can make something happen again this year.”
