Race: O’Reilly Auto Parts 250
Location: Kansas Speedway
Date: April 26th, 2008

NOTES:

  • This week’s race truck for the event at the Kansas Speedway is Chassis No. 5-78.  This is the same truck that Skinner ran last year at Kansas when he started on the pole and finished in the fifth position.
  • Nice Stat… Skinner has not only captured the pole the last two years at the Kansas track, but he has an average starting position of 3.5 in four races.
  • Welcome Home…  J.B. Fiske, who works on the No. 5 team, is from Solomon, Kansas.  Fiske runs fuel for the team on raceday and drives Mike and Angie Skinner’s coach from race to race.
  • Celebrity Watch… Skinner along with many Toyota motorsports drivers participated in the 34th Annual Toyota Grand Prix in Long Beach, Calif. on April 19th.  With many celebrities entered in the event, Skinner crossed the finish line first in the professional category and second overall.
  • New Teammate… Scott Speed will join the ever-so-popular BDR truck-trio starting this weekend at the Kansas Speedway.  Speed will remain in the truck throughout the year at a select number of events.
  • Jayhawk Fan…  Not only did Skinner pick the Jayhawk’s to win the NCAA Basketball Championship, but Skinner’s wife, Angie, and Skinner’s motorhome driver, JB Fiske, attended the Championship game a few weeks ago.
  • Listen and watch … The O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. CST Saturday, April 26.  It will broadcast live on SPEED (TV), MRN (radio) and Sirius Satellite Radio (Ch. 128).

Mike Skinner on Racing at Kansas Speedway:

“I like Kansas a lot and I am looking forward to running there.  We have got to get back on track here and I think Kansas is the place to do it.  Jeff (Hensley) and the guys have worked real hard to get things up to par, so hopefully we can capitalize on that this weekend.  We normally run rather well here, and I would love nothing more than to get this No. 5 Toyota Tundra back in victory lane.”
